While Denzel Dumfries is on the cusp of signing a new deal, Inter Milan still have to sort out the futures of six out-of-contract players.

As reported this morning, the Dutchman is one step away from penning a contract extension. The new deal should keep the 28-year-old at San Siro until June 2027.

Nevertheless, Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio still have to deal with another six stars whose fates remain up in the air, as their contracts will expire at the end of the season.

FcInter1908 takes a closer look at each case and discusses whether the player will earn a new deal or head towards the exit door.

The first name on the list is Raffaele Di Gennaro. The Italian serves as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Yann Sommer and Josep Martinez.

The 30-year-old returned to San Siro last year and his status as an Inter academy product is proving helpful on the Champions League list.

The Nerazzurri will decide whether or not to keep Di Gennaro towards the end of the season. After all, he’s not exactly a priority for the management at the moment.

The source then moves to the three defensive stalwarts, Matteo Darmian, Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi.

The report expects some internal discussions to take place between the technical staff, the management and even the ownership.

Oaktree Capital could thus have a major say in determining the trio’s fate. The US-based company has been eager to lower the squad’s average age.

Finally, FcInter1908 is almost certain that neither Marko Arnautovic nor Joaquin Correa will earn a new contract.

Both strikers are behind Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Mehdi Taremi in the pecking order.
