Manchester United and Arsenal are on high alert as Marc Guehi is expected to reject Crystal Palace’s new contract offer.

The 23-year-old defender has impressed for England at Euro 2024, attracting interest from top clubs.

According to The Sun, Guehi’s refusal to extend his stay at Palace could see him move this summer.

Palace, already dealing with the sale of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and the potential departure of Eberechi Eze, who has a £60 million release clause, face a challenging transfer window.

Despite having two years left on his current deal, Guehi’s decision not to renew his contract puts Palace in a difficult position.

The club had hoped to secure his future with a new contract that includes a release clause, but SunSport reports he is keen to explore other options.

United are said to be particularly interested in Guehi, impressed by his performance as England’s left-sided centre-back at the Euros.

The Red Devils see him as a versatile addition to their defence, especially after difficulties in securing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, who remain firm on their £80 million valuation.

Guehi’s situation is further complicated by a buy-back clause held by Chelsea, his former club, and a 20% sell-on clause.

This means any sale would also benefit Chelsea’s transfer funds.

Guehi’s consistent performances at the Euros, missing only the quarter-final victory over Switzerland due to suspension, have solidified his reputation.

He is expected to return for England’s semi-final clash against Holland, further showcasing his talents on an international stage.

For United, Guehi presents a more financially viable option compared to Branthwaite, given Palace’s weakened negotiating position with less than two years on his contract.

His potential arrival could bolster United’s defensive options as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
