Mason Mount does not want to leave Manchester United and is not for sale | OneFootball

Manchester United are not considering selling Mason Mount under any circumstances this summer, according to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 25 year old signed for the Red Devils last season from Chelsea in a £55 million deal but failed to make any real impact, providing just one assist and one goal in his debut campaign.

To be fair to the England international, this was largely down to the incredibly bad luck he had with injuries as he could not play more than 20 matches during the entire campaign.

Consequently, he has become somewhat of a forgotten man at Old Trafford with numerous fans commenting online during the season on this invisibility at the club.

There have been rumours that Erik ten Hag would be willing to let the former Chelsea man leave this summer as he was attracting plenty of interest from other sides.

Romano contests this viewpoint however and claimed in his Daily Briefing that United are insistent that the attacking midfielder should remain at Old Trafford.

“There were reports yesterday about Mason Mount potentially leaving Manchester United. From what I’ve heard on the club and player side, however, is exactly the same, and that’s that Mount doesn’t want to leave Man United.”

“He wants to do his best to show his skills at United after an unlucky first season with injuries. And United, from what I’m hearing, have no intention to sell Mount, so at the moment it’s absolutely under control and he’s set to be involved in the project of Erik ten Hag.”

Mount is certainly a much better player than he was able to show in his debut campaign in Manchester.

At his best, he is a high-pressing, creative force with an eye for a goal, something the United midfield could certainly benefit from.

The Portsmouth native is also quite tactically flexible and can play across the midfield or even in wider attacking areas, providing greater squad depth for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Mount has played both matches of United’s pre-season to date and will hope that he can enjoy a successful tour of the United States so he can push for a place in the starting eleven or at least be a regular bench option.

In a season where European tournaments have been expanded with two extra group games, a deep squad will never have been more useful and Mount can play a huge part in this.
