Nicola Zalewski’s reinstatement to the Roma squad is one of Ivan Juric’s first bold decisions as the new Giallorossi coach, as the 22-year-old returned to training with the team after a rift with the club, and could even see his contract renewed in the future.
Roma planned to sell Zalewski in an attempt not to lose him as a free agent in the summer of 2025, when his contract expires.
However, the player had reportedly turned down a move to Galatasaray last week, jeopardising a cost-effective deal that would’ve seen the Turkish side pay €11m plus €4m in bonuses.
As a result, the club reacted by excluding Zalewski from first team activities indefinitely.
Roma’s decision to reintegrate Zalewski seems related to the arrival of new coach Ivan Juric, who replaced the sacked Daniele De Rossi.
According to Sky Sport Italy, a phone contact between Juric and Zalewski paved the way for the player’s return to the squad.
Following this decision, The Giallorossi could soon restart talks with Zalewski and his representatives over a potential contract renewal.
