It was another brilliant Sunday of FA Women’s Super League with ten sides in action.

Here is what happened.

Chelsea brush aside Everton to stay three points clear at top

Scorers: Reiten (pen) 27′, (pen) 72′, Cuthbert 83′

Chelsea comfortably defeated Everton to stay three points clear at the top of the Super League.

Unsurprisingly, Emma Hayes’ side were on top for most of the opening periods but Everton remained resolute. The closest they came to a goal in this time was a corner that was tipped onto the woodwork by Courtney Brosnan.

The champions took the lead from the penalty spot after Mayra Ramírez was taken down by Clare Wheeler. Guro Reiten stepped up to slot home from 12 yards out.

Everton could have equalised shortly after but Aurora Galli was just inches away from getting a touch on the ball after it was played across the box.

Into the second half, the Blues remained in control but did not get their second goal until the 73rd minute, when Wheeler again was deemed to have fouled Ramírez. Guiten did the rest from the spot once more.

This seemingly broke the Toffees’ resolve, who saw their manager Brian Sorensen sent off before Erin Cuthbert got Chelsea’s third following a brilliant team move.

West Ham come from behind to stun Arsenal

Scorers: Asseyi 50′, Cissoko 59′;Russo 43′

A brilliant second-half comeback saw West Ham beat Arsenal 2-1 and get their first-ever WSL win over the Gunners.

The opening periods of the game saw West Ham sitting deep and soaking up the Arsenal pressure.

After her first goal following her return from an ACL injury last weekend, Vivianne Miedema was inches away from a second, rattling the crossbar with a fierce left-footed shot.

Arsenal eventually found the opening in the 43rd minute when Steph Catley’s dangerous corner found its way to Alessia Russo, who was on hand to head home from close range.

Catley then gave away a penalty shortly into the second half, tripping Riko Ueki in the box. Viviane Asseyi made no mistake from the spot to level things up.

The Irons then turned the game fully on its head nine minutes later, Hawa Cissoko scoring a brilliant overhead kick from 18 yards out after Arsenal failed to deal with a free-kick.

Arsenal huffed and puffed looking for an equaliser with Russo coming close but West Ham held out for a massive win that moves them into ninth position.

Manchester City leave it late to defeat Leicester

Scorers: Hemp 82′, Kelly 85′

Manchester City left it late to defeat a determined Leicester City side 2-0 and keep up the pressure on Chelsea.

The game took an age to get going with very few chances in the opening half, but credit must be given to the Foxes who defended strongly.

The second half saw City step things up and they really should have scored just after the hour. Khadija Shaw was threaded through by Chloe Kelly but she thrashed the ball against the bar. Laura Coombs was then unable to net the rebound.

The goals finally came in the last 10 minutes, with Lauren Hemp finishing brilliantly with an acrobatic strike after being teed up by Shaw.

Their second was even better, Chloe Kelly scoring directly from a corner kick to seal the win for her side.

Parris the star again as United brush past Brighton

Scorers: Parris 9′, 64′

Manchester United kept up the pressure on the top three with a comfortable 2-0 win at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.

United started the stronger and opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Great work down the right from Geyse led to the ball falling to Nikita Parris, who coolly finished from inside the box.

It could have been two shortly after but United could not take their chances, and Brighton could have equalised in the 25th minute. Lee Geum-min sent an excellent ball over the top to Elisabeth Terland but Mary Earps was there to make a great save.

Into the second half and it was more of the same, with Geyse again providing the assist for Parris after some neat footwork down the right hand side. It was the striker’s second brace in a row after her exploits against Aston Villa last weekend.

United saw out the remainder of the game with relative ease to seal back-to-back league wins.

Liverpool snatch a late equaliser to deny Spurs all three points

Scorers: Hobinger 90+1′ Bizet 72′

Liverpool snatched a late equaliser to deny Tottenham a crucial win and end their own losing streak.

Spurs were the stronger side in the first half, making a series of half-chances but failing to truly threaten Liverpool goalkeeper Rachael Laws.

The second half was much livelier with both sides going for the win, exchanging several chances. The Reds’ best work came from Shanice van de Sanden prior to her substitution.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 72nd minute, and it came somewhat against the run of play. Spurs put a ball into the box and it came to Celine Bizet, who ran onto it and used her knee to loop the ball over Laws and into the net.

It could have been two shortly after, Amanda Nildén hitting the post with a low curled effort, and shortly after Wang Shuang missed a great chance to wrap things up.

It appeared that it would not be Liverpool’s day but they found a late, late equaliser in added time via Marie Hobinger.

Leanne Kiernan worked the ball down the left-hand side before cutting the ball back to the edge of the box. Hobinger collected the pass before driving the ball low and hard past Barbora Votikova.

Neither side could grab the winner but a draw felt a fair result.
