Five-goal Man City back on top of Barclays Women’s Super League | OneFootball

Manchester City lead the Barclays Women’s Super League by three points from Chelsea, having played a game more in defeating West Ham 5-0.

Manchester City went two up in only three minutes against West Ham, Leila Ouahabi netting after 25 seconds from Jess Park’s cut-back and Khadija Shaw bringing down a Lauren Hemp cross to rifle home.

The latter pairing provided City with their third goal, Jessica Ziu’s deflected effort for the Hammers hit the woodwork and Shaw hobbled off at half time.

Vivianne Asseyi and Riko Ueki both hit the City woodwork in quick succession after the break but it was 4-0 when Mary Fowler slipped the ball across for Laura Blinkilde-Brown to finish.

Park drove to the edge of the box, from where she drilled in the hosts’ fifth.

Manchester United rescued a point at home to Spurs with a stoppage-time equaliser, to go back into fourth spot on goal-difference ahead of Liverpool.

Melvine Malard headed United in front when Becky Spencer failed to reach Gemma Evans’ free-kick from distance but Spurs would go in 2-1 up at the break after a quick double.

Drew Spence struck a loose ball at the edge of the box which Beth England diverted past Mary Earps and just two minutes later, Matilda Vinberg crossed to Jess Naz who shot home to give Tottenham the lead.

Maya le Tissier headed the hosts level in added time, Spencer having tipped a Rachel Williams header onto the crossbar.

Arsenal beat Leicester City 3-0 in front of nearly 43,000 at the Emirates, as the Gunners secured a Champions League spot for next season.

Beth Mead opened the scoring from a tight angle, the points were sealed with two quick goals going into the last 15 minutes.

Alessia Russo slotted home the second and after her header was saved, Mead netted the rebound for her second of the day.
