Wolves director John Gough has revealed to The Athletic that Wolves will not be leaving Molineux, claiming it is a ‘vital part’ for the regeneration of the city of Wolverhampton.
Gough has been at the club since 2006 and has seen Wolves bounce back and forth from the Premier League, the Championship, and even a season in League One just two years after competing in the top-flight.
It seems that Wolves are going to be safe for a while but Gough knows that Wolves will continue moving forward with a cautious approach.
“The decisions, fundamentally, start with the business case: What do the fans want? How big should the stadium be? How much premium seating?
“There is also hospitality and standing now. There aren’t really too many obstacles from a construction point of view, to be truthful.
“The important thing is, from Wolves’ perspective and the city’s is that it stays (at Molineux), which it will.
“It’s a vital part of the regeneration of Wolverhampton.
“The city council are well behind this, and the university. We’re working together on the future.
“At the moment, it’s cautious. We want to go as far as we can with the football team.”
Molineux currently holds just a tick over 32,000 fans. Last year, Wolves revealed their long-term goal for a 50,000-seat stadium.
