PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) has taken to Instagram to announce his upcoming exit from the Ligue 1 side. The Italy international has released a statement on social media this Tuesday night, on the eve of the UEFA Super Cup game between PSG and Tottenham Hotspur. Donnarumma has been omitted from Luis Enrique’s squad as the Champions League winners have signed France international goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille in a €55m deal.

Chevalier has joined Les Parisiens to become their undisputed starter, despite Donnarumma’s achievements last season. Speaking to Sky Italia, Luis Enrique confirmed that he decided to proceed with Chevalier onwards, excluding Donnarumma from the squad. The Euro 2020 winner with Italy has entered the final months of his contract. He has confirmed he will leave the French capital in the coming weeks. “Playing for this club and living in this city has been an immense honour. Thank you, Paris.”

In his statement, a “disheartened and disappointed” Donnarumma has thrown an apparent shade at Luis Enrique, adding that someone has decided that he can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team’s success. According to reports, Donnarumma is a target for Manchester City.
