The Latics have been active since the transfer window re-opened on June 16, with particular focus aimed at bolstering their attacking unit.

Permanent deals have been struck for Portsmouth's Christian Saydee and Burnley forward Dara Costelloe, whilst Wrexham's Paul Mullin has arrived at the Brick Community Stadium on loan for the 2025-26 season.

Manager Ryan Lowe is now looking towards his midfield options, and would like to add a full Wales international to his options for the upcoming campaign.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Latics boss Lowe is plotting a move for Ollie Cooper this summer.

The 25-year-old may not be in current head coach Alan Sheehan's immediate plans for the 2025-26 season given the fact he started precious little matches under him last season, with the Irishman taking over from Luke Williams in the dugout following his February sacking.

Cooper was restricted to substitute appearances only under Sheehan, with all 12 appearances in the Championship coming off the bench as the likes of Goncalo Franco, Lewis O'Brien and Liam Cullen were all fancied ahead of him in midfield or number 10 roles.

The 5-cap Wales international, who last appeared for Cymru in October 2024, has played 116 times in all competitions for Swansea's first-team, scoring nine times, but only notched one goal and one assist from his 28 outings in the 2024-25 season.

If Wigan want Cooper that much though, they may have to pay a decent fee for his services due to his contract status.

Cooper still has two years remaining on his deal at the Swansea.com Stadium, which he only signed back in October 2024, but it came at a time where he had been starting regularly under previous manager Williams.

A stress fracture in his foot though kept Cooper out of action for three months of the season, and when he returned to fitness, the attacking midfielder was behind several players in the pecking order.
