Atalanta have expressed interest in signing Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz (h/t journalist Gianluca Di Marzio).
Muniz has been heavily linked with an exit this summer after catching the attention of several clubs.
Newcastle United are showing concrete interest in the Brazilian striker. They are scouring the market for a striker to replace Alexander Isak, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Despite mainly playing as back-up for Raul Jimenez, Muniz showcased his ability by bagging 11 goals and two assists in all competitions last season.
The 24-year-old’s contract expires next summer, but the Cottagers have the option to extend it for another year.
Fulham will be keen not to lose Muniz, but the growing interest in him could prompt them to change their stance.
Muniz has been valued at €40 million, and Atalanta have funds to sign him after selling Mateo Retegui to Al-Qadsiah for €65m.
La Dea are looking for a top centre-forward to spearhead their attack, and Muniz looks like a perfect fit.
The Brazilian would be a like-for-like replacement for Retegui due to his predatory finishing instincts and aerial ability.
As a regular Champions League contender, Atalanta will appeal to Muniz for the next step in his career.
Atalanta have also lined up Genk’s Tolu Arokodare and Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic as possible striker targets.
They have signed Odilon Kossonou, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Honest Ahanor this summer.
