Wigan Athletic will be hoping to challenge for promotion in League One next season under the guidance of manager Ryan Lowe.
It was another underwhelming campaign for Wigan last season, but Lowe did at least manage to guide the club away from relegation danger after replacing Shaun Maloney in March, with the Lancashire outfit eventually finishing 15th in the table.
As Lowe begins work on rebuilding his squad, it has been a busy summer for the Latics, with five new signings arriving at the Brick Community Stadium so far, and there could be plenty more to come before the end of the transfer window.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Wigan and Swansea City have both made offers for Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon, while Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United have also enquired about the 24-year-old.
Erhahon provided one assist in 38 appearances for the Imps last season, but he was left out of the squad for the pre-season game against Grimsby Town on Tuesday night after expressing his desire to leave Sincil Bank, and the club are believed to be prepared to sell the Scotland Under-21 international this summer.
When asked for his thoughts on the potential signing of Erhahon, FLW's Wigan Athletic fan pundit, Corey Bissell, insisted that the midfielder would be an excellent addition for the club, but he questioned whether the Latics would be able to win the race for his signature, particularly as he is attracting interest from the Championship.
"Ethan Erhahon is a signing that would be absolutely outrageously good," Corey told FLW.
"I'd absolutely welcome him, he would instantly become one of our better players. Do I think there's a likely chance of it happening? I've got to be honest, no.
"With Swansea having bids of around £1 million reportedly rejected, I can't see where the pulling power comes from here with him being linked to the league above and the money seemingly being high.
"If we somehow manage to get it over the line, that would be absolutely silly business for us. I would absolutely love us to get Ethan Erhahon."
Wigan have already done some strong transfer business this summer, and it would be a huge coup if they were to complete the signing of Erhahon.
The former Scotland youth international's form may have declined a little last season, but he has been one of the best midfielders in League One over the past few years, so it would be a big statement of intent if the Latics were able to bring him to the Brick Community Stadium.
However, Championship side Swansea reportedly had a £600,000 bid for Erhahon rejected earlier in the summer, and with Lincoln director of football Jez George previously predicting that he would be sold for a club-record fee at some stage.
So, it remains to be seen whether Wigan will be able to meet his valuation.
