Marcus Rashford has reportedly agreed a new deal at Manchester United that will make him one of the Premier League’s very top earners.

Discussions between Rashford and the hierarchy at his boyhood club are said to have been going on for some time and have finally reached an impasse.

The 25-year-old England international had been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain as he struggled for form amid injuries and United’s struggles in the 2021-22 campaign.

But he bounced back to enjoy his best season yet as Erik ten Hag rejuvenated the team last term. He scored 30 goals in all competitions as Ten Hag’s Red Devils qualified for the Champions League and ended a six-year trophy drought with the League Cup.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Rashford “rejected more lucrative offers from England & abroad to stay” at Old Trafford. He was into the final year of his current contract, but there’s now an agreement in principle on a new five-year deal that ties down his future until 2028.

The new terms will reportedly see the Carrington academy graduate become United’s top earner, eclipsing Jadon Sancho’s £18million-a-year salary.

Rashford’s last contract saw him earn £200,000 per week – just over £10million a year – which saw him behind Sancho, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes in United’s top earners.

The forward’s new deal also sees him move almost to the very top of the Premier League’s wages table. His new £375,000-a-week contract (per The Sun) will see him earn as much as Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland. In fact, Kevin De Bruyne is the only player in the English top flight that will be paid more.

Not only does Rashford move ahead of his United team-mates in terms of earnings, but he’s also set to bring home more than the likes of Mohamed Salah, Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka – who also signed a bumper new deal earlier this summer.
