Real Madrid do not plan to announce the signing of Kylian Mbappe until after the Champions League final, according to reports in Spain.

Mbappe confirmed on Friday night that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season when his contract expires, but stopped short of revealing who his next club will be.

Madrid have been in negotiations with Mbappe over a summer move, but MARCA report those upstairs at the Santiago Bernabeu do not consider the signing a formality just yet, not least because the forward backed away from a transfer in 2022 and shocked the world by signing a new PSG contract.

If and when Madrid do thrash out a deal with Mbappe, they do not intend to make the agreement public until after the Champions League final on June 1 as so not to disrupt the team's preparations.

Los Blancos reached another final after staging a late comeback against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals. After drawing the first leg at the Allianz Arena 2-2, Madrid were staring elimination in the face after summer transfer target Alphonso Davies fired the Bavarians ahead. But a spectacular last-gasp brace from substitute Joselu turned the game on its head and secured Madrid's progression.

Madrid will now face Borussia Dortmund at Wembley with a chance to win the European Cup in a record tenth different country. Their only previous visit to Wembley came in November 2017, when they were defeated 3-1 by temporary tenants Tottenham Hotspur.

Before the Champions League final, Madrid will see out their final four games in La Liga having already been crowned champions. They face trips to Granada and Villarreal, while they will host Deportivo Alaves and Real Betis.

Mbappe, meanwhile, will be honoured by PSG in his final home game at Parc des Princes on Sunday against Toulouse. Les Parisiens wrap up the Ligue 1 season with trips to Nice and Metz before taking on Lyon in the Coupe de France final.
