West Ham would solve their goalscoring crisis by signing this 31-year-old Serie A star to fill Arnautovic’s void

According to a report in Sun, West Ham want to solve their striker crisis by signing Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain on a season-long deal during this transfer window.

The 31-year-old former Argentine international, who failed to live up to expectations in his previous two loan spells at AC Milan and Chelsea, has returned to Turin in the summer. (h/t Sun)

Now, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have turned their attention towards Higuain, who is not wanted at Juventus, as the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala are expected to start ahead of him. (h/t Sun)

West Ham and Pellegrini can take the best out of Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain is the type of striker who likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender, making wicked and uncharted runs into the box for creative players to pick him out to increase his chances of scoring goals.

He also prefers to drop deep and link up play with the attacking midfielder, creating spaces for others in the box and troubling the opposition defenders.

In a way, the 31-year-old is the perfect striker for a 4-2-3-1 formation, where he can directly link up with the number 10, make runs for wingers to find him in the box and score/assist goals for the team.

The catch here is that West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini prefers to prepare his team to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Thus, it can be said that the former Manchester City boss can extract the best out of Higuain if he manages to sign him during this transfer window.

With all the creative players that the Hammers have (Manuel Lanzini, Jack Wilshere (if fit), Pablo Fornals, etc), the Argentine should love playing in front of them.
