Inter are eyeing up a move for Hermoso this summer. That is no longer any great secret.

The Nerazzurri’s propensity to move for free transfer opportunities is well-known. They are already signing the likes of Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi via that route this summer.

And Hermoso looks to be a potential opportunity for a third marquee arrival without a transfer fee.

The 28-year-old former Espanyol defender’s contract with Atletico expires at the end of June. And the player’s agent has himself admitted that an extension looks far away.

Inter have also shown a real knack for seizing upon situations of this nature with Beppe Marotta at the helm. Therefore, they could appear to be among the main candidates to snap up Hermoso.

However, Mediaset report, it is not as though there aren’t other clubs well aware of the Spaniard’s situation.

West Ham & Aston Villa Rival Inter To Sign Atletico Madrid’s Mario Hermoso

According to Mediaset, Inter’s most serious competition to sign Hermoso could come from the Premier League.

The English top flight would certainly present an attractive destination from a financial perspective for Hermoso.

And according to Mediaset, there are two clubs in particular who want to sign the Atletico man.

One is West Ham United. The Hammers see Hermoso as a target to bolster their back three, whether for David Moyes or another coach.

Then, Aston Villa are also thinking about moving for the 28-year-old.

The Villains could well be playing in the Champions League next season. They currently sit fourth in the Premier League table. That could give them a strong position to rival Inter for Hermoso.

Meanwhile, Mediaset report, Inter have a few alternative targets to Hermoso.

Two come from within Serie A. Udinese’s Jaka Bijol and Bologna’s Sam Beukema are on the Nerazzurri’s radar.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Salzburg defender Oumar Solet is another defensive target for Inter should they miss out on signing Hermoso.

Salzburg would expect a fee of at least €10 million for Solet, Mediaset reports.
