Bayern Munich face Real Madrid in tonight’s Champions League semi-final with the home side looking to make up for the embarrassment of losing the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen.

It’s been a rough season for Thomas Tuchel and his Bayern Munich side but despite domestic disappointment, they’ve made it to the Champions League semi-finals, beating Arsenal 3-2 on aggregate in the last round.

Now they face the mighty Real Madrid who also beat English opposition in the quarters. The Spanish giants needed penalties to get past Manchester City, and now they’re set on winning an incredible 15th Champions League title.

Both sides will need to be at their best. Here are the top three storylines in tonight’s first leg.

Tuchel’s last dance?

The German manager announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season in February, regardless of whatever happened between then and the end of the season.

Since then, Bayern fans have created a petition to try and keep Tuchel at the club, citing none of the available candidates were better than the one they currently have in charge.

The Champions League is now his last opportunity to win any silverware with the club this season. Tuchel has history in the tournament, in fact his sides are often much better in cup competitions.

Don’t put it past Bayern to go and win the whole thing!

Is Harry Kane cursed?

You have to feel for Harry Kane. After years of nothingness at Tottenham Hotspur, his move to Germany was meant to guarantee trophies.

It hasn’t quite worked out that way so far, and even though Kane has been breaking personal goalscoring records, his teammates haven’t been up to par.

Kane was so close to winning the biggest trophy in club football in 2019 when Liverpool beat Spurs in the final. He will be desperate to break his duck this time.

Written in the stars?

What can be said about Real Madrid in the Champions League that hasn’t been said 1000 times over? It’s almost as if this tournament was created for them.

Only a fool would bet against Los Blancos, especially with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm. Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, and co have been remarkable so far this season. The new ‘Galacticos’ might be better than the old ones.

Still, Bayern are no pushovers, they will have to be at their best to beat the not-so-friendly German giants.
