An up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona proved himself the star of the show for the Spanish national team at the Olympic games on Friday.
The player in question? Fermín López.
Youngster Fermín was afforded his latest starting berth this evening, as Spain locked horns with Japan with a place in the semi-finals of the Olympics on the line.
When all was said and done in Paris, La Roja emerged on the right side of a one-sided result, triumphing by three goals to nil.
And the aforementioned Fermín, for his part, was on target to the tune of a brace.
His first of the matchup arrived on the 10-minute mark, courtesy of an unstoppable left-footed drive from 25 yards:
And the 21-year-old was back at it again a little over 15 minutes from time, taking a corner kick down with his chest on the edge of the penalty area, before directing another pinpoint strike, on this occasion with his right foot, into the Japanese net:
