Swindon Town are back in League Two action on Saturday as they host Crewe Alexandra at the County Ground.

The Robins have had an excellent season so far and currently sit sixth in the fourth tier table. Last time out, they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by fellow play-off contenders Tranmere Rovers.

Josh Hawkes gave the visitors the lead early on, but Jacob Wakeling’s fifth of the season in the 30th minute levelled the scores. Jordan Turnbull was sent off for Rovers in second half injury time, but it was too late for the hosts to find a winner and they had to settle for a point.

However, the result extended Swindon’s unbeaten run to five league games and leaves them four points behind third-placed Northampton Town and two points clear of eighth-placed Carlisle United.

It has been a much less successful season for Crewe, with the Railwaymen arriving in Wiltshire 16th in the table. But interim manager Lee Bell, who replaced Alex Morris in early November, has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the hot seat at the Mornflake Stadium. He followed up an FA Cup win with a 1-0 victory at home to bottom side Colchester United last weekend, with Dan Agyei’s 80th-minute strike securing all three points.

But the Alex will have to improve their away form if Bell is to maintain his perfect record, with just one league win away from home this campaign.

Town boss Scott Lindsey will be without midfielder Jonny Williams, who is in Qatar with Wales for the World Cup.

However, the 50-year-old could be boosted by the return of Tyrese Shade who has returned to training after a hamstring injury, while Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is also back with the squad, although this game may come too soon for both of them.

Tom Clayton and Angus MacDonald are also almost back in full training, but will likely miss out on this one.

Middlesbrough loanee Sol Brynn will continue in goal as he looks to continue his form and keep a seventh clean sheet of the season.

With MacDonald not yet available, Cian Harries, Ciaran Brennan and Frazer Blake-Tracy will make up the back three.

Remeao Hutton and Ellis Iandolo will line up as wing-backs and Lindsey may opt to keep the same midfield of Ben Gladwin, Saidou Khan and Ronan Darcy, although Louis Reed came off the bench last weekend and is pushing for a start.

Luke Jephcott and Wakeling are expected to retain their places up front, with Lindsey speaking of the growing understanding and partnership between the pair.
