FLW's Rotherham fan pundit Tom Eyre has given his verdict on Sam Nombe's future at the club

Rotherham United are preparing for another year in League One after a disappointing return to the third tier of English football.
Former Millers assistant manager Matt Hamshaw returned to the club to replace Steve Evans in the dugout in the final month of the campaign, and the rise from 16th position to 13th suggests that there's something to work with going into next season.
One bright spot of their return to League One was the form of Sam Nombe, who notched 14 goals and five assists from 43 appearances.
The forward was the Millers’ top scorer, and could be someone that Hamshaw will want to rely on going into the new season.
When asked if transfer interest in Nombe can be expected this summer, FLW’s Rotherham fan pundit Tom Eyre claimed that it would have to take at least £3 million to convince the club to cash in.
He likened the 26-year-old to Joe Taylor, who made the move to Huddersfield Town last January for a similar amount.
“I think 14 goals in a really poor Rotherham side, and a poor League One side, really, you don’t really score often, not to mention another five assists,” Eyre told Football League World.
“He’s got it all. Pace, power, finishing, creative ability.
“And for a League One striker who is 26, he can only get better.
“He’s a fantastic player, fantastic footballer and I really think - he is someone that we paid £1 million for - I wouldn’t accept anything less than that, for sure.
“But I also don't think I’d accept anything less than £3 million, which is about the price that Joe Taylor went to Huddersfield for.
“I think he’s a similar player to Sam Nombe. So, I think if he’s going for £3 million then Sam Nombe should be at least £3 million.”
It will have to take a big offer, like in the region of £3 million, to convince Rotherham to sell Nombe this summer.
Otherwise, he will be a key part of Hamshaw’s first-team plans, given his consistency in front of goal last season.
If the Millers want to improve and fight for promotion back to the Championship, then they will need someone of the forward’s quality in attack.
Nombe has a contract until the summer of 2027, meaning Rotherham are not in a position where they will need to cash in on the player this year, but like a lot of League One clubs, bids of a certain value will have to be considered if it makes business sense to do so.
