It was a dominant performance from Pep Guardiola’s side. They were overwhelming favourites for the game, and it played out accordingly. Once City took the lead in the 2nd minute, there was only one winner. To Luton Town’s credit, they defended resolutely, but eventually, Manchester City wore them down. The win kept City’s chase for a fourth consecutive Premier League title on track. It also heaped pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal as the title race heats up.

Manchester City’s win also featured a sparkling display from Jeremy Doku. The Belgian international returned to his best as he tormented the Hatters defence all afternoon. He scored one, provided another, and won a penalty in an all action display. It is a great sign for the world champions to see Doku back to his best. The electric winger adds a different dimension to the European champions, and it bodes well for what lies ahead this season.
