Torreira was brought to the club for âŹ30m from Sampdoria but was kept under wraps as he adapted to English football.
Despite arriving as an unknown quantity, the 22-year-old has finally been unleashed by Unai Emery and is impressing.
He is currently averaging 1.8 tackles (more than any other player apart from Mattéo Guendouzi) and 1.9 interceptions per 90 minutes (the most of any Arsenal player this season).
Torreira is also affording freedom to the likes of Granit Xhaka and Alex Iwobi who are in rich veins of form, and shielding the back four who have been far too open in recent times.
Premier League clubs spent over âŹ1.3bn in the summer transfer window but youâd be pressed to find money better spent than the 5â5âł Uruguayan.
