The Premier League delivered on Saturday as there were major twists and turns at both ends of the table. Let’s take a look at what went down.

What happened?

Liverpool’s end-of-season collapse continued in the early fixture as Jürgen Klopp’s men could only manage a draw away to West Ham, further derailing their Premier League title hopes.

Aston Villa saw a two-goal deficit erased by Chelsea to throw another spanner in the works of their top-four push.

Manchester United continued to struggle as they could only manage a draw with relegation-threatened Burnley.

Meanwhile at the other end of the standings, a thumping at the hands of Newcastle United means Sheffield United will head down to the Championship after just one season back in the big-time.

Everton, however, secured their safety with a gritty 1-0 win over Brentford. Barring any changes to their ongoing points deduction issues, they will remain in the top-flight thanks to another late-season turnaround.

It’s hard to look away from Alexander Isak when it comes to the Player of the Day.

The Newcastle man bagged two more goals Saturday, increasing his tally to 19, a personal best.

What this means

As previously mentioned, Liverpool’s aim of sending Jürgen Klopp off with another Premier League title looks all but a distant dream as their draw with West Ham means they can finish the weekend as many as five points off the top. Should Manchester City win both their games in hand, that gap will be seven.

The relegation battle remains razor-sharp. While Sheffield United have had their fate sealed, only two points separate Burnley in 19th and Nottingham Forest in 17th heading into Forest’s Sunday afternoon matchup with Manchester City.

Aston Villa’s top-four hopes took a slight dent when they dropped points against Chelsea, as 5th place Tottenham now have three games in hand and a seven point deficit to make up.
