For the first time in five years, a new player will win the Best Frenchman Abroad after Karim Benzema was unable to make the shortlist. The striker has had a terrible time of things since swapping Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia.

However, Real Madrid could end up with a new winner of this award with the Spanish giants being well represented on the UNFP’s nominations with Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni making the cut.

Across the city, Antoine Griezmann will look to win his second UNFP award having already won the inaugural Best French Player Abroad in 2016. Like Griezmann, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan will be looking for his second award after winning Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year in 2019 while playing for Lille OSC.

William Saliba has once again had a wonderful season at the heart of the Arsenal defence as he helps the club search for its first league title in 20 years.
