It promises to be a very exciting mid-week as we find out who will be heading through to the Champions League semi-finals.

Here’s our predictions for the quarter-final second legs …

Game of the week 🔥

PSG v Bayern Munich

It’s no exaggeration to say that last week’s first leg was one of the most exciting games we’ve seen all season, and we’re expecting more of the same on Tuesday night.

Paris Saint-Germain take three away goals into the second leg, but they will be taking nothing for granted against a Bayern Munich side who are the Champions League holders and still an incredibly dangerous team even without Robert Lewandowski.

Mauricio Pochettino would no doubt take a 0-0 draw, but the neutral should be praying for an early Bayern goal to really make things interesting.

Whoever wins this tie could well lift the trophy this year, and let’s hope the second leg has a few twists and turns in store.

📊 Fun fact: Bayern’s xG of 3.79 in the first leg was the most of any team in a single game in the Champions League this season.

🔮 Our prediction: PSG 2-1 Bayern

Too close to call 🤔

Borussia Dortmund v Manchester City

Manchester City can feel reasonably comfortable about taking a 2-1 lead with them to the Westfalenstadion on Wednesday, but it’s far from job done.

Especially after they were beaten at home by a Leeds side who played the entire second half with 10 men on Saturday.

But the silver lining of that defeat was that Kevin De Bruyne, Rúben Dias, Riyad Mahrez and others were all rested, meaning they should be fresh and ready for the challenge in Dortmund.

BVB, meanwhile, gave a good account of themselves in Manchester last week and after coming from behind to beat Stuttgart at the weekend, they will fancy their chances of turning this tie on its head.

Erling Haaland will be up for it, as will Jude Bellingham, and Jadon Sancho is back in training.

We’re excited for this one.

📊 Fun fact: In Champions League history, the side winning the first leg of a knockout stage tie 2-1 at home has been eliminated (15) more often than they’ve progressed (12).

🔮 Our prediction: Dortmund 2-2 Manchester City

Potential upset 😰

Liverpool v Real Madrid

It’s been an up and down few weeks for Liverpool.

That 3-0 win against Arsenal appeared to set them up perfectly for their Champions League tie with Real Madrid, but the Reds were awful in the Spanish capital and fortunate to only come away with a 3-1 defeat.

Then it looked like they were about to drop more points in the race for a top four finish against Aston Villa on Saturday, only for Trent Alexander-Arnold to pop up with a brilliant last minute winner.

That goal should give them some much-needed confidence as they look to overturn a deficit that looks unlikely, but not impossible.

Unlikely because Real Madrid are buzzing from their win over rivals Barcelona at the weekend, but not impossible because this is Liverpool we’re talking about.

They won’t have a boisterous home crowd to help them this time, but it could still be a special European night at Anfield.

📊 Fun fact: Real Madrid have won 15 of their 16 previous Champions League knockout ties when winning the first leg by 2+ goals.

🔮 Our prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Real Madrid

Star man 🤩

Kai Havertz (Chelsea)

After their 2-0 away win in the first leg, Chelsea have one foot in the semi-finals, and we’re expecting them to finish the job against Porto this week.

And after his brilliant performance in the win over Crystal Palace at the weekend, we’re expecting big things from Kai Havertz again.

The German seems to flourish in that false nine role and if Thomas Tuchel plays him there again on Tuesday, you can probably expect some goal involvements.
