Manchester City will offer Joe Hart the opportunity to return to the club when he hangs up his gloves at the end of the season.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who report on Friday that City will offer their former title-winning goalkeeper a non-footballing or ambassadorial role six years on from his departure from the club.

The 37-year-old announced his decision to retire from playing earlier this year, and will be hoping to finish his career by winning a league and cup double with Celtic.

Hart hinted earlier this week that there could be a role for him at Celtic when his playing days are over, but he is yet to attain any coaching badges and has suggested that is unlikely to be his plan for the future.

A non-footballing role at former club City – with whom he spent 12 years and won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup – could therefore be where the ex-England international’s future lies.

Hart made just one appearance under current City manager Pep Guardiola before he was shipped out on loan to Torino in the summer of 2016. He also spent a year on loan at West Ham before moving permanently to Burnley in 2018.

After he left the Etihad Stadium, the club honoured his achievements by naming a pitch at the training ground after Hart.
