AC Milan have still not decided who will be their new No.9 after Olivier Giroud departed the club at the end of the season, and whilst it is good they are evaluating all avenues, there is the potential they could lose footing in the race for some of their targets.

Currently, the trend about Milan’s next striker is following a pattern that remains fresh in the memories of Milanistas. Only this season we saw the consistent back and forth between Pioli’s position, and when a decision was eventually made, the same process followed regarding his successor.

Now, it seems that the process will continue into the mercato, with the Rossoneri seemingly undecided about who will take the reigns that Giroud has left vacated.

Jonathan David and Joshua Zirkzee now look unattainable after both led the list for a while, and whilst Benjamin Sesko, Serhou Guirassy, and others remain, there is a need for the process to be sped up due to other clubs also needing strikers.

As Tuttosport (via Milan News) reports, this could be the case with Santiago Gimenez, the Feyenoord striker who Milan have had previous meetings with. However, they could risk losing him to a competitor such as Liverpool or Spurs, given his price, which is currently €50 million, and profile suits them.

Given the Diavolo don’t want to enter an auction, they must aim to decide on him quickly before being drawn into a race they cannot afford to enter.
