The Europa League group stage is set. Qualified as Coupe de France winners, Toulouse have been drawn to Liverpool in Group E.

Les Violets will also face Austrian outfit LASK and Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. It won’t be the first time that Toulouse will face the Reds. Sixteen years ago, the two sides faced off in the third qualifying round of the 2007-2008 Champions League. Rafael Benitez’s Liverpool easily won 5-0 on aggregate. Former Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli is therefore poised to return to Anfield, but as Toulouse FC president now.

Marseille have been dealt a tough group in the Europa League draw. Les Phocéens have been drawn Roberto de Zerbi’s free-flowing Brighton and Hove Albion side as well as experienced European outfits in AFC Ajax Amsterdan and AEK Athens in Group B.

Finally, Stade Rennais will face 2022 Champions League semi-finalist Villarreal, Israeli side Maccabi Haifa and Panathinaikos in Group F.
