Kane – Tottenham and England’s all-time record goalscorer – has been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions this summer and Bayern have already had two bids knocked back in their efforts to land the striker.

Reports on Friday claimed the Bavarians had made a third and final bid for the striker of more than 100 million euros (£86m) and gave Spurs until midnight to accept or reject the offer – a deadline which passed with no comment from either club.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the upcoming campaign and is reportedly keen on a move to Germany.

Spurs finished eighth last season – their lowest placing in the Premier League since 2008 – despite Kane weighing in with 30 goals, second only to Erling Haaland.

And Romano gave an update on the situation on Sunday with a transfer to Bayern Munich “absolutely on” despite talks not yet “advanced” for the Tottenham striker.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: “What happens if Bayern Munich miss out on Harry Kane after putting a lot of time and effort into the deal? Obviously, the club have backup options but nothing is advanced as they are still chasing Kane. I’m told Bayern’s focus remains fully on Kane and while I’m writing this, the deal is absolutely on. The only answer I am getting from Bayern is: focus on Kane.

“Many ask why Kane is not going public with his wish to join Bayern Munich this summer, with the feeling being that it will help the move materialise; for me, I’m not sure that going public and asking for a move would be the best way to go about things. You may remember that two years ago that kind of stance didn’t work regarding the Man City move. Daniel Levy will never make a decision based on that kind of thing.

“Kane is very open to leaving Tottenham this summer, but he leaves things to the clubs. He’d love to join Bayern but he’s absolutely not desperate to leave Tottenham if the move can’t be finalised.”

And now Spanish publication Fichajes claims that Tottenham have now made a €25m offer for Porto striker Taremi as they look to line up a replacement for Kane.

The Iran international, , is a ‘surprise’ target for Spurs and the north London side have now taken ‘concrete steps’ as they look to secure Taremi ‘as a viable alternative in the event of a Harry Kane departure’.

It is understood that ‘talks are underway and could advance significantly in the coming days’ with Tottenham showing a ‘clear commitment to finalise the signing of the Iranian striker’.
