Tottenham have opened discussions for midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé, but remain some way off Lyon’s valuation of the player.

The 22-year-old has been identified as one of Spurs’ prime transfer targets and Mauricio Pochettino has made his signing a priority with chairman Daniel Levy.

That is according to the Guardian, who also report that as things stand, the clubs are some way off in how they view the France international.

Lyon are holding out for a fee of €75m for his signature, while Spurs value Ndombélé at closer to €50m.

Discussions have been opened for the midfielder, although the Champions League finalists are yet to submit an official offer to the French side.

With Real Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus also linked with Ndombélé’s services, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has no incentive to sell at a lower cost.

“I’m negotiating with the biggest clubs in Europe for Ndombélé,” Aulas stated, quoted by the Guardian.

The Lyon man isn’t the only midfielder Spurs are tracking as they aim to add numbers in the middle of the park.

The same story also suggests that they have made contact with the agents of both Donny van de Beek of Ajax and Roma youngster Nicolò Zaniolo.
