Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane stole the show as they claimed a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga today.

The England captain orchestrated the win with a clinical brace, reaching a monumental 400th career goal in the process.

Kane opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Konrad Laimer burst through a hapless Frankfurt backline before teeing Kane up, and he grabbed the gift with both hands.

Bayern dominated the clash but didn’t find that second goal to finish off their opponents, and Frankfurt pulled a goal back through Hugo Ekitike.

The Frenchman delivered a sumptuous finish to mark turning his loan move into a permanent transfer this week.

Bayern came close to retaking their lead on several occasions but had to wait until the 60th minute when they were awarded a penalty, which Kane stepped up to convert with aplomb.

Kane has now reached a career milestone of 400 goals for club and country.

Today’s double made it 42 goals for Bayern in all competitions. He scored 280 goals for Tottenham Hotspur and has netted 62 goals for England. He scored another 16 for Millwall, Leyton Orient and Leicester City.

The 30-year-old centre-forward has also become the first player to score against every Bundesliga opponent he has faced in his debut season.

Kane can also break Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a Bundesliga season. He is on 35 goals already and has three more games to break it.

He will disappointed that his goals have not helped him capture any silverware, but he has one last chance this season as they face Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Kane could clinch a trophy if Bayern can finally overcome their recent poor form against Los Blancos and put them to the sword, even though it is a tough ask against the 14-time European champions.

Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel will be counting on Kane to spearhead the attack and provide the goals as he has done 400 times in his career.
