Interim manager Ralf Rangnick given ultimatum on Manchester United objectives

Ralf Rangnick is yet to take to the field as the manager for Manchester United, yet, he received an ultimatum on the objectives for this season from none other than Mikel Silvestre. He will take charge at the helm against Crystal Palace on Sunday as he has got his work permit.

Speaking in an interview with The SunMikael Silvestre delivered his verdict on the objectives for the 2021-22 season while also praising the appointment of Rangnick. He believes the foundations laid by the new man in charge could help the club become title contenders.

The German has a contract with the Red Devils until the end of the season, after which he will take a consultant role and have a say in managing the club. He will be coming with high expectations because of what he has done at his previous affiliated clubs.

“THERE IS A MID-TERM PLAN AND IT COULD BE THE ONE THAT TAKES UNITED TO BEING TITLE CONTENDERS. There is enough quality in the squad to finish in the top four – that is where they should finish.”

A fair opinion?

Looking at our squad, we have enough options in terms of our depth compared to other Premier League clubs. We should be finishing in the Champions League places while having a decent run in the knockout stages. While there is a question on the quality of those players, the 63-year-old could rejuvenate some of them and help them be productive.

Since our midfield has caused problems throughout the season, it would not be easy to attain these objectives. However, top coaches identify the issues within the squad and mask them using their skills until they can solve them. Similarly, the interim manager would probably play to our strengths while minimising our deficiencies to an extent.

With some additions and changes in the management, we could see our club return to its glory days, and Rangnick could play a part in it. He could also secure our future as he has done in his previous clubs like RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim.
