As the summer transfer window approaches, Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for one of the Premier League’s rising stars, Michael Olise of Crystal Palace. Olise, despite battling hamstring issues this season, has displayed remarkable form, contributing seven goals and four assists in just 15 appearances. His performances include key moments like a last-minute penalty equaliser against Manchester City and multiple goals in other crucial matches.
With the backing of United’s new INEOS stakeholders, Olise is viewed as a viable acquisition to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season. The player himself is also reportedly keen on the move, which could see him leave Crystal Palace where he has made a significant impact.
Olise predominantly plays as a left-footed winger on the right side, enabling him to cut inside and either take shots or deliver dangerous in-swinging passes. This playing style is similar to what Manchester United have enjoyed from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on the opposite flank, suggesting Olise could bring a harmonious balance to the team’s attacking dynamics.

The presence of a left-footed player on the right wing not only provides tactical flexibility but also allows for natural overlaps by the right-back, in this case, Diogo Dalot, who can exploit the space created. This strategy could enhance United’s attacking options, making them more unpredictable and dynamic.
Michael Olise’s arrival could create a competitive environment within the squad, particularly affecting Antony, who has been the primary choice on the right wing. However, competition often breeds excellence, and Olise’s versatility to also play on the left could prove beneficial. This adaptability ensures that the manager has multiple tactical setups and player rotations to choose from, enhancing the team’s ability to respond to various match situations effectively.
Securing Olise’s services won’t come cheap, with a release clause estimated between £50m and £60m. However, with Chelsea, his former club, reportedly out of the running after a previous complicated approach, Manchester United might have a clearer path to negotiate his signing. Such an investment in a young and talented player could offer long-term benefits, both on the pitch and potentially in future transfer market dealings.
Michael Olise represents a strategic opportunity for Manchester United to bolster their attacking options. His proven ability in the Premier League, combined with his potential for further development, makes him an enticing prospect for the Red Devils. As the transfer saga unfolds, it will be interesting to see how Manchester United leverages this opportunity to enhance their squad for a competitive season ahead.
