Manchester United have had some stunning kits in the past, so here’s our ranking of the top ten of all time.
As football clubs go, you’ll struggle to find one bigger than Manchester United. Since its birth as Newton Heath way back in 1878, they were always renowned as a top-tier club. Fast forward to the present day – they’ve accumulated trophies galore including Premier Leagues, Champions Leagues, FA Cups and so much more.
Whilst winning these honours, they’ve also been blessed with some of the world’s best players. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Eric Cantona, George Best, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes and so many more elite names have been deemed fit to wear the shirt at Old Trafford.
So naturally, with legendary players and a mass amount of trophies to their name, they will have wanted to look good whilst dominating the land, which they certainly have in the past with a wide array of stunning jerseys.
So, with this – let’s rank our top 10 Man Utd kits of all time.
A unique start at number ten, with a jersey that is so different to anything else Manchester United have showcased in the past. The vibrant jersey looks like something from an 80s hippie festival – but remains an ever-popular jersey amongst fans to this day.
At number nine is the only very recent shirt to feature in our top ten. The 2020/21 away kit was a thing of beauty designed with intricate wavey markings across the whole jersey. Shame the gigantic Chevrolet logo ruins it or it may be higher.
This is arguably the coolest United shirt that has ever been produced – but certainly not literally.
The VAPA TECH away shirt for 1999/2000 is a thick woollen-type shirt that did not last long as a material type! It was perfect for cold winter nights but was a nightmare in the summer. It is a Unique design, however – and that Sharp Digital logo is simply stunning.
An iconic home jersey which saw the birth of Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford. The design is simple enough, but there’s just something about a central logo which looks glorious on a jersey.
A special kit that was used in a competition that no longer exists – the UEFA European Cup Winners Cup. United beat Barcelona to claim the crown and certainly did it in style with this gorgeous white design.
Another sleek yet simple design that was so effective in producing a stunning kit. In our opinion, AIG was also one of the best sponsors for Manchester United and combined with the white v-neck collar, white tick and white masking behind the badge it makes for an unreal bit of kit.
At number four is another Sharp masterclass, this time combined with Adidas to form a deadly combo. As seen before, sometimes simplicity is key and this design is just so sleek and ‘sharp’. No pun intended.
A memorable away jersey, for all the wrong reasons thanks to Eric Cantona who wore this when he famously Kung-Fu kicked a fan in the crowd. Despite this, this kit is gorgeous. The collar and intricate design with a nice black and yellow colour scheme cook up an absolute banger.
Just missing out on top spot is the 1999-2000 home strip! This kit has it all. The unique quarter zip, the tapered Umbro sleeves and the iconic Sharp logo. Not to mention this was the home jersey for when Manchester United won the infamous treble. This shirt is incredibly iconic and is certainly up there with United’s best-ever kit.
At number one, it has to be the 1992/93 home kit. The entire design is near perfect and that collar with the open neck is bringing back some good old 90s football nostalgia. Expertly modelled by King Eric – this is the greatest Manchester United shirt to ever exist.
