An interesting update on the situation surrounding Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, and long-term suitors Real Madrid, has come to the fore this evening.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards the Bayern brass preparing something of a ‘revenge’ swoop, in the case of Davies departing for Spain’s capital.

It is of course common knowledge that left-back Davies has been identified as the primary transfer target on the part of the powers that be at Real with a view to next season.

In fact, Los Blancos are understood to have gone as far as to ask the Canadian international not to renew his terms in Munich, amid growing confidence that a deal will ultimately be struck.

It therefore shouldn’t come as all that much of a surprise to hear of the Bayern hierarchy being less than pleased with their counterparts in Madrid.

And this has led the Bavarians to set their sights on a signing of their own, from the famed La Fábrica academy.

As per the aforementioned Sport, Bayern are ready to go ‘tit-for-tat’ with Real on the market this summer.

Should Davies ultimately seal a move to the Santiago Bernabéu, the German champions will in turn seek out the signing of Rafa Marín.

Marín, for his part, is a 21-year-old central defender, who is currently plying his trade with Alavés, on loan from Real Madrid.

Widespread speculation has pointed towards the youngster being integrated into Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team setup in the Spanish capital next season, owing to a dearth of options at the heart of Los Blancos’ defence.

But Bayern, long-term admirers of Marín’s talents, could yet throw a spanner in the works, ready to move forward with a bid amid their own search for defensive reinforcements.
