Despite various reports stating that Borussia Dortmund right-back Thomas Meunier was set for a return to Belgian side Club Brugge, Sky Germany have reported that a deal is still not close to completion. However, it is almost certain that Meunier will be sold by the Bundesliga runners-up this summer.

Meunier was present at training as Dortmund prepare for the upcoming campaign – where they will hope to improve upon last season and dethrone Bayern Munich – and the full-back will continue to do so unless the situation changes. However, according to Sky, the 31-year-old is not even aware of a deal being imminent.

During a five-year spell with the Belgian side, Meunier featured 198 times for Club Brugge where he would score 20 goals and collect 22 assists, predominantly from right-back. The 31-year-old would then be sold to Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 after winning the Belgian Pro-League, before departing for the Black and Yellows in 2020.

Throughout this summer transfer window, there has been considerable speculation over where Meunier will be plying his trade next season with interest from the Serie A and Premier League. However, while Dortmund are still yet to receive a formal bid for Meunier, he certainly is on Die Schwarzgelben’s transfer list.
