Whilst Kylian Mbappé (25) didn’t win that all-elusive UEFA Champions League title with Paris Saint-Germain, he certainly made his mark on the club.
After seven years at the club, Mbappé will leave PSG at the end of the current campaign. He made the announcement in a video, posted on his social media accounts, on Friday. Whilst he did not reveal his future club in the announcement, it is expected that his move to Real Madrid will be officialised early next month.
Mbappé leaves PSG as the club’s all-time record goalscorer. His 255 goals in all competitions for Les Parisiens sees him comfortably surpass the previous record holder, Edinson Cavani. One of the symbols, if not the symbol of the successful QSI era, it begs the question: is Mbappé the greatest PSG player of all time?
Speaking to L’Équipe, Mbappé’s former teammate at the Parc des Princes, Thomas Meunier, had his say. “There is no doubt – he is the No.1 [in PSG’s history] and by a long way. I don’t know every detail of PSG’s history, but I know its best players, luke Raï, Pauleta… For now, there is no debate. On the pitch, in the media, in terms of charisma… it’s Mbappé. Kylian is PSG’s No.1,” he said.
