Real Madrid star Federico Valverde was heavily critical of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, on the back of their latest outing on Sunday.
Real of course marked their return to action this afternoon, welcoming Celta Vigo to Spain’s capital for a must-win La Liga fixture.
And after cruising out to a three-goal advantage, Los Blancos, in the end, were forced to hold on for all three points.
An inexcusable 2nd-half collapse saw the capital giants concede twice, to allow Celta a route back into the game, and a real shot at a share of the spoils.
Amongst those on the pitch en route to as much was the aforementioned Federico Valverde, who spoke to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu.
And the midfielder made use of the opportunity to take firm aim at Real as a collective, ahead of next weekend’s crunch showdown with arch rivals Barcelona:
“These ‘disconnects’ can not keep happening. They have happened many times in the league and Champions League, we must improve. El Clásico is our last chance, the most important game of the season.”
