Luis Hernández is one of the most successful strikers in the history of Mexico and, naturally, Chivas wanted to bring him into the fold.
However, for one of the most unusual reasons, the signing of Mexico’s fourth-greatest scorer never materialised.
In the midst of this quarantine, ‘El Matador’ gave us a hilarious anecdote from when Chivas wanted him prior to the 1998 World Cup in France, where he scored four goals.
“Before the ’98 World Cup, my agent from that time approached me about Chivas. He told me that the president wanted me to cut my hair,” the attacker said.
“I told him ‘Que chingue a su madre’. Because of that detail, I did not leave but that is history.”
Instead, Hernández made the move to Tigres, where he was largely successful, scoring 39 times in 64 Liga MX appearances.
