Ten Hag believes that having options is a luxury selection problem. He said (via ManUtd.com): “It’s internal competition. I think they perform well, first.

“Their progression across the season is very good from both and now they deserve their chance, they took their chance and that’s a luxury [selection] problem, which is good.

“That is what I need, what I was waiting for, for so long. Actually, what I was waiting for the whole season, such a luxury problem.

“We need a squad to win both [the Brighton and Manchester City] games.”

The Red Devils will face Brighton & Hove Albion next in their final game of the Premier League season.

Contrasting United’s future for Amad Diallo and Sofyan Amrabat

Diallo has starred in the previous two games after being named in the starting XI.

He did not score against Arsenal but was responsible for creating a few attacking moves in the first half. Unfortunately, he had to come off due to an injury.

The 21-year-old shone against the Magpies, setting up Kobbie Mainoo’s strike before striking a thunderbolt to restore Man United’s lead.

His ball control, coupled with unshakable composure under pressure, was truly mesmerising.

He is not the finished article yet, with many aspects of the game he needs to improve on.

However, things are looking bright and Ten Hag must be blamed for not giving Diallo opportunities earlier in the season.

Amrabat has surprised everyone with his recent impressive performances. His last-ditch block to deny Newcastle’s Alexander Isak was outstanding.

Even though there has been a significant improvement in his form, INEOS should not sign him permanently.

The train has already passed for him to impress to get a permanent seat in the Old Trafford dressing room next season.
