RC Strasbourg Alsace are entering crisis territory for their first season since the BlueCo takeover. Patrick Vieira’s Alsatians have lost their last three Ligue 1 games, without showing any signs of progression under the guidance of the 1998 World Cup winner. Their last outing was a chastening 3-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. This Sunday afternoon, the 14th-placed Strasbourg travel to Rennes’ Roazhon Park. Bruno Genesio’s side have just delivered a gutsy performance to come away with a 2-1 win at Panathinaikos in their Europa League group stage this Thursday.
Vieira is expected to bring changes to the side that crumbled at the Parc des Princes last Saturday. Chelsea loanee Ângelo Gabriel (18), who was absent from the squad that lost to PSG after picking up a minor hamstring injury, is expected to get the nod from Vieira. It’s welcome news for Strasbourg given the Brazilian winger has impressed for his new side, displaying promising dribbling abilities. L’Equipe understands Dutch centre-forward Emanuel Emegha is set to start up front against the Bretons.
