According to a report from Ouest-France, FC Nantes have submitted a bid, thought to be worth €10m, for Stade Rennais forward Matthis Abline (21).

The France youth international has been the source of a tug-of-war between Nantes and Rennes this summer. He spent last season on loan at Les Canaris and finished the season strongly, netting four goals in his final seven games for the Breton club. It was enough to convince Nantes to activate the €6m purchase option in Abline’s loan. However, convinced that they could sell him on for a higher fee, Rennes triggered a clause, allowing them to bring the player back to Roazhon Park for an extra €2m.

However, he won’t stay with Les Rennais. Whilst BlueCo, via RC Strasbourg Alsace, have shown interest in Abline, it is Nantes who have shown the most determination to sign the player. An offer of €10m (not taking into account bonuses) has been lodged by Les Canaris, and whilst there is not yet an agreement between the clubs, there is cautious optimism that an agreement can be reached with Nantes determined to land their priority target.
