Sheffield United forward lined up to pen new long-term deal | OneFootball

It’s been a difficult season for everybody involved at Sheffield United Football Club, but none more so than for Daniel Jebbison.

The promising striker has not managed to feature throughout the campaign due to numerous issues. It was revealed a short while ago, by CEO Stephen Bettis, that the 20-year-old had suffered a blood clot before the start of the Premier League season, and thankfully after recovering from the health scare he has been able to regain his fitness.

Jebbison has now returned to training with the first-team and may be set to see some action for Chris Wilder’s side or for Michael Collins’ development team before the end of the season.

The Canadian-born forward is one of the many Sheffield United players who are out of contract in the summer, and after plenty of discussions the Blades seem to be close to tying the England youth international down to a long-term deal.

Chris Wilder on Daniel Jebbison’s future at Sheffield United

Speaking to the media ahead of last Saturday’s game against Burnley, Chris Wilder said: “Daniel Jebbison, I believe, is very close to agreeing, if not agreed [on a new deal]. Just some small details in the contract that we’ll obviously announce from a club point of view when he gets the pen in his hand and he signs for us.

“We’re very confident yet again that we’ve locked down another really good promising young player.”

Daniel Jebbison has had awful health and injury luck since last summer, which has brought his young career to a standstill. But make no mistake about it, Jebbison is still a very bright prospect and one the Blades would do well to tie down to a new contract.

In the last Championship campaign the youngster threatened to break out, but with Iliman Ndiaye and Oli McBurnie firing on all cylinders he was reduced to mostly short appearances off the bench. Nonetheless, he scored a goal and chipped in with two assists in 16 games, he added a goal to his name in the memorable FA Cup run as well.
