Isaac Romero handed Quique Sánchez Flores’ side an early first-half lead by meeting Lucas Ocampos’ flick-on to the far post.

The visitors also had to contend with Álvaro Morata limping off at half-time in tears after suffering a suspected knee injury in the opening 45 minutes.

Ocampos appeared to have doubled the lead early in the second half at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán before a VAR review chalked off his strike for offside.

Sevilla moved up to 15th, level on points with Mallorca, as they extended the gulf between themselves and LaLiga’s relegation places to six points.
