Two key members of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are set to sit out the club’s next outing.

As much comes owing to developments in Wednesday’s meeting with Getafe.

Diego Simeone’s troops are fresh off a convincing victory last night, which saw Antoine Griezmann prove himself the star of the show by way of a hat-trick, en route to a 3-0 result at the Estadio Coliseum.

As alluded to above, however, on an otherwise positive evening’s work, Atlético were also dealt a double blow on the personnel front.

This came upon Axel Witsel and José María Giménez picking up their latest yellow cards.

Having now been booked five times each across the season to date, the defensive pair will be forced to sit out a one-game La Liga suspension.

As much will be served this coming Sunday, when the Rojiblancos welcome Osasuna to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Thankfully for Atléti, their Champions League fate for next season is no longer on the line heading into the matchup, with the capital outfit’s drubbing of Getafe having mathematically ensured a top-4 La Liga finish.
