Sevilla set to sign highly-rated Premier League defender on loan | OneFootball

Earlier this week, Sevilla announced the sale of Marcos Acuna. The 32-year-old, who had been at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan for four years, has returned to his native Argentina, joining River Plate. His departure means that a replacement is required, and an exciting one is about to be achieved.

As reported by Matteo Moretto, Sevilla are close to finalising the arrival of Valentin Barco. The teenager is to join on a season-long loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion – it’s a simple arrangement for the 2024-25 campaign, with no option to buy included in the agreement.

Barco is considered a top talent in England and his native Argentina. He will arrive to compete with Adria Pedrosa to be Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta’s starting left-back.

As a low-cost option, Sevilla have done very well to secure the services of Barco. Although supporters would obviously be disappointed at the fact that there’s no option to buy, there is sure to be excitement at seeing his talents in the red-and-white.
