Saudi club enter the fray for Atlético Madrid star Mario Hermoso | OneFootball

An unnamed club from the Saudi Pro League have this weekend positioned themselves in the race for Atlético Madrid star Mario Hermoso.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Saturday provided the latest on developments surrounding Hermoso’s name.

The stopper, as things stand, is of course primed to bring his five-year stint on Atlético’s books to a close this summer.

As much comes with Hermoso’s terms with Diego Simeone’s side due to expire, and little progress having been made in negotiations between the parties towards a renewal.

The brass at the Wanda Metropolitano are understood to be unwilling to match the monetary details of their defensive star’s current contract with the club, coming in around €4 million-per-season net.

Unsatisfied with as much, Hermoso is therefore readying himself for an imminent exit.

To this point, the likes of Serie A giants Juventus and Atléti’s La Liga rivals Barcelona have been tipped as potential summer landing spots for the 28-year-old.

As alluded to above, though, this weekend, a new, and potentially tempting suitor have entered the fray.

As per the aforementioned Sport, an unnamed club from the Saudi Pro League have added Hermoso to their transfer wishlist.

The outfit in question would have no problem meeting the financial demands of the stopper, albeit with it noted that Hermoso could have options in the Premier League, too, with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa continuing to sniff around his signature.
