Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri hailed his team’s attitude this evening as they defeated Verona 4-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, their first home victory in nearly seven months.

Talking to the press after the game, with quotes via TuttoMercatoWeb, the coach described it as a “completely different performance”, which Sarri pinned as being motivated by “the poor record at home” and “the poor showing against Como.”

Despite a confident performance, Sarri said “There is still a lot of work to do” but was happy his side “did not cause a drama” after defeat to Cesc Fabregas’ side in their season opener.

Lazio coach Sarri: “Castellanos assist is ‘serious stuff'”

One of the highlights of the match was Argentine forward Taty Castellanos’ assist for Mattia Zaccagni’s goal, the forward flicking the ball through to the Italian with a rabona pass. Asked about the Argentine’s performance today, Sarri said “I expect a few more goals to come from him, especially from loose balls in the box. He only scores beautiful goals and he needs to score more because he’s capable. His rabona assist is serious stuff. He is growing in fitness and we’ll see, he could be there in two months.”

Castellanos was not the only player who impressed Sarri this evening, with the former Chelsea coach describing midfielder Nicolo Rovella as “hungry and eager”, but concluded “I’ll be completely happy with him when I see him do what he did tonight but with one less touch.”

Sarri also has been impressed by defender Oliver Provstgaard, who he described as “an intelligent guy” with “all the characteristics to end up in the Premier League.” However, the coach said he was “having trouble defining Noslin”, with confusion over whether the Dutchman operates best as a winger or a second striker, but praised his “good attitude.”
