Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has given coach Niko Kovac no assurances over his position at the club.

Although the Bavarians are now in pole position to retain the Bundesliga and are in the DFB Pokal final, Rummenigge isn’t entirely happy.

He pointed to Bayern’s meek showing in the Champions League as being a problem and doubled down on his comments about the coaching position.

Speaking on television, he claimed that the club have ‘interest in the consistency of the coaching position’ and went further when talking to Bild.

“I said this on Sky quite purposefully. Anyone who works for Bayern, including me, must deliver here,” he said.

“There is pressure and that has always been the case at Bayern. At the moment there is no euphoria for us because nothing has been won yet.

“The timid and heartless performance in the Champions League was very upsetting for us.

“It had financial damage but also much larger damage, to the Bundesliga too. That isn’t allowed to happen again next year.”

Bayern were beaten 3-1 at home by Liverpool in the last 16 after drawing the first leg at Anfield.
