Real Madrid has well and truly transitioned into the new generation. Today’s team at the Spanish capital is led by the young faces of Vinicius Jr, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham among others.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s heroes including Luka Modric and Toni Kroos only play a supporting role in the background for Carlo Ancelotti’s side and are on the verge of being phased out.

As the club inches towards a complete transition, it is only with fond memories that one can look back on the old guard – a team with legends including Marcelo, Casemiro, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and undoubtedly, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Numbers don’t lie

While it is common knowledge that Ronaldo is one of the best ever to grace the field with the Real Madrid crest, his numbers under different managers at the club only solidify his status as a legend.

The first manager the Portuguese star worked with after his arrival was Manuel Pellegrini, under whom he recorded a stunning 33 goals and 11 assists in just 35 games.

He then enjoyed a 164-game run with Jose Mourinho, arguably with one of the greatest Real Madrid teams ever, and scored a whopping 168 goals and provided 49 assists in that duration.

Ronaldo’s subsequent spell under Carlo Ancelotti saw him score 112 goals and provide 47 assists in just 101 games for Real Madrid.

Even Rafa Benitez’s short stint on the sideline did not see the Portuguese star drop his guard as he clocked 25 goals and eight assists in 24 games.

Ronaldo’s last dance at the club came under the tutelage of Zinedine Zidane when he played 114 games, scoring 112 goals and providing 30 assists.

Now 39, the legend is still going strong for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. In just 25 league appearances this season, he has scored 29 times and has provided 10 assists and it is safe to say that his feet still possess the same magic.
