Robert Lewandowski has declared his Bayern Munich career “over” as he continues to push for a move away from the Bundesliga.
The Pole, who has scored at least 40 goals for Bayern in each of the last seven seasons, has one year remaining on his contract with the club but has been heavily linked with a switch to Barcelona.
Speaking to the media on international duty on Monday, Lewandowski reiterated his stance.
“My era at Bayern is over. I don’t see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore,” he said.
“Bayern are a serious club and I believe that they will not keep me just because they can.
“I don’t want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me.”
Bayern have publicly insisted that Lewandowski will not be sold but his agent, Pini Zahavi, said that Bayern “is history” for the striker and his career.
However, links to Barcelona have persisted and Bayern seem to be on the hunt for a replacement: the Bundesliga champions have been in talks with the agent of VfB Stuttgart striker Saša Kalajdžić in recent weeks as well as being linked with a move for Liverpool’s Sadio Mané.
